Shelling

Afterwards

Children resume

The street soccer match

Endurance

I am a present tense

Even in a body

Not my own.

Vigilance

Vigilance

Stroking your poisoned scalp

I watch for memories of

silk, scarlet locks

Drive by

Drive by

Candles on

urban street corner

Youth, age––?

3 Haiku

These three haiku came out of my experience working for food justice and access in Boston over the school year.

He asks for food.
my wallet’s empty
is my heart full?

Month’s end:
      Neighborhood market––
      No SNAP Accepted.

Midnight
recalling the barren fridge
hunger.

Truth & Justice

Truth

It’s there; filmed in black and white
screaming for air
denied its natural right.

Justice

Today, all things are weighed
life, evidence have fair say––
In some cases.

Honest Usurpation & Undocumented slumber

Honest Usurpation

Everything comes undone

the system can’t hold itself

sometimes.

Undocumented slumber

To the Dreamers:

perhaps it was good to

postpone the awakening.

Radio and Surveillance

Radio

Through static sound

I await a voice of truth

where deceptions thrive.

Surveillance

Someone monitors me

peeps through shrouded channels

disrupts my privacy.

Canto Gregoriano

Canto Gregoriano

Holy

verse

raptured,

from the praises of Heaven,

to

the

lips of man.
